Dear All.. over the years (I have been with you since day one as Anne knows because I did some work on the original beginnings of the site :) and I have seen the website develop immensely and remarkably to what it is now...Congratulations!

However one thing that has always 'bugged' me a little is that regularly and periodically you send out notifications of new members who have joined and who we are invited to view.. HOWEVER I know I might sound a bit 'picky' here but in general I (and probably many others) feel a photo is very important..even though we all agree it is personalities that later determine if anything comes from the meeting..but like many people, I am not interested in viewing anyone BEFORE they put their photo on the site...but I will gladly view the new profiles when the photo is up.. I know there will always be one or two who never put a photo up (that is there option)...but is there anyway you can DELAY the notification of new members until their photos are up on the site..otherwise I feel the notification of new members would continue to have a negative or nil response effect for most of your existing viewing members. Hope you find this constructive..

Re the photos thing I am no great 'looker' by any means but like me I think the majority of people I have ever spoken to agree that they get a tremendously increased response if they put photos on..main reason being (I think) that as much as personalities are important, we are all human and all also wanting a person to whom we are attracted to physically (and them to us)..from that point of view a photo is essential..and although I understand some people's concerns about being visible on a site the only people who are going to see them are people who are also on the same site...

Also it is ok some saying well I will send a photo later..but in most cases there wont be a 'later' because there wont be the initial response in the first place..people don’t want to meet people and risk either of them finding the other unattractive or 'totally wrong'..as this only causes embarrassment to both...it is far better to take the bull by the horns and place a photo..there will always be someone out there who is attracted to all people who advertise..some want big partners, some small, some thin, some fat, some intelligent, some not..but all (I think) want some initial physical 'chemistry' to help start the ball rolling..

Will be interesting to see what they say..but general everyone I know who has put a photo on has noticed a tremendous increase in replies...however I think you will agree that it is also important that any main photo placed thought about carefully...I think it should be a good viewable smiley photo and should really reflect the person as they are..and not one that is 20 yrs old or whatever..but that is just MY point of view.

Many sites are good sites..and make a point that photos WILL enhance responses.. Likewise when you send out notices of NEW members..I am only interested to look at those I can 'see' initially. We don’t generally get round to ever reading those that don’t..

NB: In other situations where they are looking for 'social' partners or sports partners it is not as important to have photos on there I agree ... But even then a photo may help. Or additionally specify that they DON’T want partners of opposite sex replying (or wont answer them if they do).
