Scammers exist on ALL online dating and friendship sites whether the Internet dating site has free or paid membership. However, at NewFriends4U we have precautions in place together with vetting every profile before being accepted onto our site and combined with many years experience, this dramatically reduces the number of these characters from using our service.

Warning: Internet sites where anyone can register to create a profile/page and then automatically becomes live, without any vetting in place, you are naturally going to find a far greater number of scammers on board as it is easy for them to do so.

What detection is in place at NewFriends4U:

  • We have various technical measures in place to capture Internet scammers attempting to register; they are filtered and deleted.

  • We are alerted when anyone exceeds our set limit for sending contact messages so we strongly recommend you use your NewFriends4U mailbox which helps us to eliminate these characters.

  • We are regularly policing our site and remove anyone suspected to be a scammer or anyone who is reported to us by our members as being scammers.

If asked -- don't reveal your personal contact information

To make all our members aware of such characters we STRONGLY recommend that, upon receipt of our contact message notification email, you do not reveal your personal contact information, Instant Messenger, (or add their IM) email, telephone numbers, any bank details etc, and if you've not got Instant Messenger never get talked into downloading, particularly Yahoo IM as normally this is what they will be using, but use your NewFriends4U Messages Box until you feel it is safe to do so.
NEVER reveal your personal contact information on your displayed profile/page.

If someone you were communicating with no longer exists in your message box this would either indicate that they have deleted their profile from our system, but as they were communicating with you, this would normally indicate that our system detected them or we were advise by other member/s that they were abusing our service and removed.

Yet, with all the above in place,
it can be very difficult to discern if someone's profile is genuine or not, so this makes it extremely difficult to prevent scammers using dating and friendship services. But if you use your NewFriends4U mailbox, which is there for your benefit and protection, we are able to investigate and remove anyone you may consider to be either a scammer or misusing our service in anyway.

If you know of anyone misusing our service please advise us immediately by contacting us so we can quickly investigate and remove them from our database to prevent any further communication with any of our other members.

How to spot a scammer and avoid Internet dating scams:

An online dating scammer will request immediately that you reveal your private email address or to use Instant Messaging or any contact information for communication as apposed to using your NewFriends4U Mailbox.
  • Scammers will write: "I am removing my account soon" or say "they rarely log on to this site" to indicate the urgency for you to reveal your contact information.
  • Scammers sometimes write in poor broken English, use false attractive photos, or flattery, to fool you.
  • Scammers ask for money or help moving money for personal reason or family or business claiming that they need money so they can get a visa and flight ticket to come and visit the person who sent them the money.
  • The joy of giving and feeling you have helped somebody can bring a great joy to some people and this is something many scammers exploit. There is a simple rule to follow when meeting new people online who are asking you to send money. Don’t send it!
  • Be very suspicious if they say they lost their wife and have one or two 'KIDS' and  provide an email address/es on initial contact.
  • Look out for people who reply to your messages but do not include any reference to what you have written and do not answer your questions in their messages. They may be sending pre-written messages.
  • You should also be suspicious about messages saying they viewed your profile and are interested in marriage with you because not many people will introduce them self and ask for your hand in marriage.
  • Men, don't be a chump, is some outrageously-beautiful young woman going to develop a relationship interest with a man 20-40 years her senior. Don't allow yourself to be 'in love with the idea of being in love'. This requires real people who know each other and takes time to develop. Anything less is most likely just a pipe dream for a guy who wants to recapture his youth.

Should you run into a few scammers you will soon get to recognize them, be able to ignore and delete them from your message box, but please do let us know first so we can delete them from our system!

It is very important that you never send people your personal contact details until you are comfortable you can trust them. If you are suspicious of someone’s behaviour, so we can investigate and remove accounts owned by any unethical users of our site, please only use your NewFriends4U Mailbox.

How to alert us:

Report any scam mail by Contacting Us and we will investigate immediately.
