I work in the humanitarian aide field. I spent about two years in the Gaza Strip in Palestine and in southern Iraq, Kosovo, southern Lebanon, Eldoret in Kenya, and in Amman in Jordan working with refugees from Iraq effected by war/violence and conflict. I grew up in New York City. I received my masters degree in Buddhist psychology. To be honest with you, I don't necessarily like psychology and I am not a Buddhist. I just find that the Buddhist philosophy and approach to life is very humane and can actually be very helpful for people! I am seeking English speaking friends to hang out with. Hi, I am Dutch and have just retired to Spain, to start a new life and adventure, after living in many exciting parts of the world.I love the hot weather and the leisurely Spanish way of life. I have 2 sons, one lives in the States and the other in Germany. I like walking, cycling, swimming and am generally very active. I used to play golf, but being ladies captain managed to totally put me off. My house is near the sea and as I am quite sporty, I hope to add sailing and scuba diving to my activities in the future, but maybe scuba diving is a bit too ambitious! I am fit and live a reasonably healthy life(a bit of what you fancy does you good), so for me a couch potato or a smoker would be a complete turn off. I am very competitive and a sudoku fan, especially the more challenging ones, and I love all sorts of games, including card games, although my bridge is a bit rusty. I would like to meet some new friends, male and female, to make life even more enjoyable here on the Costa Calida. I can tell you now, that I will never attempt an autobiography, for I found writing about myself very difficult to say the least.
