I'm having
difficulty in registering
If all the compulsory data required on the first page of registration, "Basic
Profile", has been included:
1. Check your PC is set to the correct Time and Date, if not please reset and
try again.
2. Go to your Internet browser top of screen, select 'Tools' 'Internet Options'.
At 'Temporary Internet Files' click 'Delete Files' and then 'Delete Cookies'.
This will remove only your temporary internet files stored in a folder, will
speed up your PC and may clear any problems you are experiencing.
3. Copy paste this link: http://www.newfriends4u.com/cgi-bin/Register.pl directly
into the web browser of 'Internet Explorer', 'Netscape Navigator' or preferably
we recommend "Mozilla Firefox" avoiding other front ends such as AOL, Hotmail,

my email address is invalid?
1) Go to 'Internet Explorer', ‘Mozilla Firefox’ or 'Netscape Navigator’,
(avoid using other front ends such as AOL/Hotmail/Yahoo/Lycos/MSN or similar)
enter our web address http://www.newfriends4u.com and try again.
We recommend Mozilla Firefox:
2) Go to your Internet browser top of screen, select 'Tools' 'Internet Options'.
At 'Temporary Internet Files' click 'Delete Files' and then 'Delete Cookies'.
This will remove only your temporary internet files stored in a folder, will
speed up your PC and may clear any problems you are experiencing.

I have registered
but my profile is not active and I've not received my Member ID & Password
1) After registering, automatically you are sent an email asking for validation
of your email address. Please check your email account for our email sent with
the Subject: "Please Activate Your Newfriends4u Account" (If you are unable
to locate our email, check your Junk/Spam folder, sometimes genuine email can
arrive there, then set your email account to accept our email so we and our
members can communicate with you).
2) If you did not validated your email address and activate your registration
by clicking the link provided within 7 days, your registration will appear invalid
and be deleted. This final step of registration is necessary to check if the
email address is correct, to prevent hoax registrations on our site.
3) Your registration was not accepted or suitable for our site

No password confirmation
or communication received
If you have received no password confirmation or communication in reply to
an email you may have sent us, the email address you provided when registering
was either incorrect or there is a problem with your service provider.
If you have registered, and have a note of your Membership ID, you can search
at 'Search Ads/Profile' found on the left navigation menu using 'Go Direct to
Member Profile'. You can request a new password by using 'Get Password' found
on our navigation bar.
If you don't have your Membership ID contact us with the email address you used
when registering and we will try to locate your profile. If we are unable to
locate your profile you will need to register again with a correct or alternative
email address.

I cannot find my
profile. It appears to have been deleted. Why?
A profile would be deleted if:
1) You have requested it to be deleted.
2) Used 'My Profile and Options' to delete your profile.
3) Your registered email address was flagged as being invalid for over 60 days
and we and our members could not communicate with you.
4) You violated our
Terms & Conditions
at section 4. TERMINATION.

Placing your free personal ads & registration
To place your free Personal Ads you will need to register. When registration
is complete you will be sent an email to the address you have registered. You
will be requested to click the link provided in our email to confirm your email
address and activate your registration. (If you are unable to find our email,
please check your 'Spam' folder where sometimes genuine emails arrive and set
your account to accept our emails so we and our members can communicate with
you). If we do not acknowledge receipt of your profile your email address may
not have been entered correctly or your registration was not acceptable for
our site. When your registration has been vetted and accepted you will receive
our 'Welcome' email containing your log on details. For members searching our
database, it is important that your Country, County/State/Province and Town
are entered correctly. Use our 'Specify if not listed' box and those places
not listed will be included on our database.

Guidance
on wording your ad
To receive more responses to your ad it is important to write one that is
interesting, exciting and honest. First impression will be your title, show
your creativity and personality. In your text describe yourself first, let them
know what your interests are followed by what you are looking for, make your
preferences known, but be careful of getting too specific. Poor grammar and
spelling can be a major turn-off, check your grammar, spelling and avoid abbreviations.
For Someone Special ads, show your sense of humour, focus on who you are rather
than what you are not. Attach a photo; those with photos receive a far greater
response to their ad than those without. Members can get our Free eBook
'How to
Write a Winning Profile', which will help you to create a profile advert
that attracts the people you want!

To place additional personal ads
You can place one Personal Ad in each of our three communities. Your Personal
Ad must be specific to that community. If you have choosen one community now
and later decide to place a Personal Ad in one of the other two communities
from My Profile just select 'Update
Your Profile & Personal Ads'.
Removing one of your personal ads
To remove one of your Personal Ads from a specific community, go to
My Profile and select the appropriate
community link listed to remove. This will not remove your profile. Your profile
must have one active advert.

How does
Instant Messaging work?
Members can contact other members instantly online. When a member has logged
on they will appear as 'Online' at the Instant Messaging page and on their profile
at search results.
At 'Instant Messaging' click the link displayed to chat with a member, enter
your online message and click 'send'. A chat symbol and text on the right header
of the site will appear on that members screen alerting them that you wish to
chat. When they reply you will also be alerted with the same chat symbol and
text.
NOTE:
If you have hidden your profile you will not be visible online at our Instant
Messaging page.

Why are members on the
site who have not logged on for over 3 months been removed?
When a member registers their profile will remain on our site for as long
as they choose. However, if a member never logs on after they have created a
profile during a period of 120 days they are automatically removed from our
system.
We allow our members full control of their profile, if a member no longer wishes
to have a profile on our site they can select to delete it by going to 'My Profile',
alternatively a request can be made for their profile to be removed.
When a member meets someone, or their circumstances change for whatever reason,
they can select to hide their profile from searches. Members can be inactive
for some time and then suddenly become active and make their profile visible
again.
Our website is continually being updated and any profile who's email address
becomes invalid are automatically removed.
If a members profile appeals and they have not logged on for over 3 months please
don't let this deter you. By sending them a message they are notified via our
system and will hopefully log on to see who is showing an interest in their
profile. If they are interested in your profile and message we are sure they
will contact you.

How do I get the "Real"
email address of another member?
For security reasons, we never provide the real e-mail address to any other
member or any organization outside of our site.

How do I search specifically
for a Members ID?
Click the "Search Ads" link seen on our left site navigation menu, top section.
Scroll down to: 'Go Direct to Search Member ID'.

Is there a way I can
search for a specific location?
Our Power Search facility has over 17 search criteria, including regions/counties
and towns.

I don't get many
compatible results when I use Power Search?
Power Search is based on what other people enter in their own profiles. By
selecting too much criteria, you are reducing your result and will only get
results from people who have filled in all that information.
We recommend that if something is not that important to you, don't select and
leave unspecified. The best way to search is to start by only including the
things that are absolutely essential...then add 'nice to haves' until you get
a list of members that is about right for you!
We also suggest not being too restrictive with selecting just one county/region,
and to also select those on the borders. Just selecting a town may also be too
restrictive. Opening your age range criteria may also help.
Our site is continually growing and changing daily and new members are appearing
all the time, we feel sure that you'll find new people online soon, so do keep
trying!

NewFriends4U.com
Mail
NewFriends4U.com operates its own interactive messaging service. Messages
can be located in your message box which are stored in our system. When a new
message is received in your message box an email will automatically be sent
you. In order to respond, simply hit the link received in your email, you will
be asked to log on and this will take you directly to your message box. All
members can send a quick reply by selecting from our pre-set messages. No one
receives your email address until you decide to give it to them.

I can't open
and read my messages?
1) Your PC may be holding old cache, click your 'Refresh' icon found on your
internet browser and try again.
2) Click the envelope icon instead of the link.
Note: Please be aware that when opening a second message this will replace the
one last viewed.
4) If this doesn't solve the problem carry out a tidy-up of your PC as follows:
Go to your Internet browser top of screen, select 'Tools' 'Internet Options'.
At 'Temporary Internet Files' click 'Delete Files' and then 'Delete Cookies'.
This will remove only your temporary internet files stored in a folder, will
speed up your PC and may clear any problems you are experiencing.
How do I use my mailbox?
1) To open messages, click the message link or envelope. To view profile, click member number.
2) Forward button, send a copy of your message to your private email account (for your records only). Replies can only be sent using your Newfriends4U mailbox.
3) Viewing either your sent or received messages, click the button 'Go To Outbox or 'Go To Inbox'.
I can't find my messages
- why have they been deleted?
When messages are received in your message box you are notified automatically
by email. These message notifications should be kept safe so you always have
reference of the members ID. Received messages will be removed after 60 days
whether they have been read or not as per our notification seen below your message
box. This is automatically done to reduce the space taken on our system. When
messages have been unread you are again automatically notified 3 times throughout
this 60 day period before they are finally deleted. We recommend that when your
messages are opened to always forward to your own email account for reference.
Another reason a message may disappear would be if a member deletes their profile
from the site.
You notified me of a
message received in my inbox but can't find any message and the member no longer
exists?
To protect our members, if we are alerted that a member is using our site
to send either 'Nigerian Scam', spam or large numbers of repeated same text
content messages to other members, their profile and messages are removed immediately
from our database. Although we make every effort to keep our site free of dishonest
ads or unsolicited advertisements, we aren't always able to immediately discern
which ads are legitimate.
Please see the link displayed at the top of your mailbox explaining
why a message may not be in your mailbox.
Where has my member
contact information gone?
We recommend, as information seen at your message box, you forward those
messages you wish to keep to your own email account for future reference so
that after the 60 day period, when messages are removed from our system, you
do not lose any contact information. You will see the 'Forward' button When
your message is open. Also, see above information on why messages are deleted

All amendments are checked before they are accepted and uploaded onto the site.

Why should I attach
my photo?
Many members choose only to look at or respond to profiles with photos so
if you don't have your photo on NewFriends4U.com, you are missing out on all
the action! A nice picture of yourself adds personality and presence to your
profile. Members receive 10 times more responses than members without, so why
not boost interest and increase contacts by uploading your photo today! Our
search facilities list all the latest, active profiles and those with photos
first. To upload your photo go to 'My Profile', Select 'Upload/Change
Your Photo' and follow the guidelines.

Attaching a photo to your profile will dramatically increase your responses!
a) Go to 'My Profile' and Select 'Upload/Change Your Photo'.
b) When uploading your photo it should ideally be in JPG (JPEG) file format.
Max file size 100KB. Please avoid very small photos. Your photo size should
be at least 150 X 240 pixels. Anything smaller will need to be scaled up which
may affect your photos appearance.
c)Unable to upload your photo successfully? You can use our
contact us form and attach your photo
providing it has been saved in .JPG format only and we will upload for
you.
NOTE: We cannot upload photos saved in .DAT format.

Change of
email address
If your email address changes go to My Profile
and select 'Update My Profile, Personal Ads or Email Address'. If
your Internet provider reports that your address no longer exists then NewFriends4U.com
may subsequently close your account, resulting in loss of your membership.

Can I hide my profile?
To hide your profile, go to My Profile,
select 'Update Your Profile & Personal Ads', and select 'No' at 'My Profile
is Searchable'. This will prevent people finding your profile in a search. By
hiding your profile you can:
1) Use the site to only search, send and receive messages from those you have
selected to communicate with. Those members you have chosen to contact are the
only people who will be able to see your profile.
2) Choose to temporarily hide your profile. Your username and password will
remain valid when you return to the site.
To be found in search you will need to proceed as above but select 'Yes' at
the question 'My Profile is Searchable'.

profile
To delete your profile from our system/database go to
My Profile Scroll down the page
and select 'Delete My Profile'.

Note: Our site is quite sophisticated and you are only prompted to
log on when you wish to reach a member only page, a separate log on button is
therefore not necessary. For example, if you click the link under the heading
Members 'My Messages' or 'My Profile' this will generate our log on

How do I recover
my original password?
For security reasons, we do not store plain text passwords on our system
and so cannot recover forgotten passwords. You can, however, request a new random
password to be generated and emailed to you by clicking on the 'Request New
Password' link on the member logon screen, which appears when you first access
a protected area of the site or 'Get Password' link found on the menu bar. To
receive a new password you will be required to enter the same email address,
which you used to register with. Your password can be changed to one of your
choice by clicking 'My Profile'.

How do I get out of a page loop?
1) Check the time and date on your PC are correct.

How can I unsubscribe
receiving newsletters and mailings?
We have three types of mailings, please see our terms and conditions, 2.4.
Our weekly newsletter: With new members listing, site updates and
special offers you can unsubscribe from these newsletter mailings at anytime
by going to 'My Profile' and using the unsubscribe link found at the
bottom of the page or a link can be found at the bottom of the newsletter. To
unsubscribe now click this link:
Unsubscribe.
You will be asked to log on first so the system knows who you are. When you
have unsubscribed you will receive an on screen message notifying you that you
have unsubscribed. You can subscribe again at anytime.
Automatic mailbox notification mailings: This is related to new messages
received in your mailbox and information about your mailbox. This is not a newsletter
but mailbox notification information. This notification mailing can only be
removed when your profile linked with your message box is removed from our site
as they are connected to the profile you have placed and are part of how sending
and receiving mail works on our site.
Automatic mailings for profile status and log on activity: These mailings
are connected to the members profile displayed at NewFriends4U.com. This is
not a newsletter but reminds the member receiving this mail message about their
profile advert they have created. This is one way we try to ensure our active
members are not contacting 'dead' profiles.
Should a member choose not to use the site they can remove their profile
and ads, at 'My Profile', from the site at anytime.

Can I customise my weekly
new members newsletter?
To customise your weekly listing of new members with your own personal options,
go to 'My Profile' and select 'Customise My Newsletter'.

I received an email notifying
that I have received a new message, but it's not in my inbox!
1) If we find that a member is sending spam messages they are removed instantly
from our site together with all messages they sent. Although we make every effort
to keep our site free of dishonest ads or unsolicited advertisements, we aren't
always able to immediately discern which ads are legitimate. We apologize for
this inconvenience. It was designed to protect you, our member.
2) If a member requests to be deleted, or they have deleted their profile, all
traces of the message will also disappear.

How do I delete
someone from my favourites?
You can remove someone from 'My Favourites' by clicking the 'Delete'
button as displayed. You can add and remove favourites as often as you wish.
Please note, you cannot remove another member from your "Who likes me" list.

I can't find a member
who I saved in my favourites, where have they gone?
If a member deletes their profile this will remove them from your
'My Favourites' list together with messages sent to member's mailboxes. If someone
disappears from your favourites the chances are they have cancelled their membership.

Yes, when adding a member to 'My Favourites' list you automatically
appear in their "Who Likes Me" list, it's a great way to show another member
you could be interested! If you add someone to your favourite list who is already
in the list they are NOT sent a second email notifying them you've added them
to your favourites. This only happens the first time they are added. However,
if they are later deleted from a list and added back then they will get another
email.

who appeared in my 'Who Likes Me' list has disappeared?
This would indicate that the member has removed you from their
'My Favourites' list or has deleted their profile from the site.

How long
will members remain in my favourites list?
Members will remain in your favourites list until you decide to delete them.

The links do not work,
why can't I open my messages?
NewFriends4u uses JavaScript in several places. If you are getting errors
please try clearing your cache (Tools/Internet Options/General/Delete files...
in Internet Explorer) and ensuring that JavaScript is enabled in your browser
(look in Tools/Internet Options/Security).

Did you know that in searches your profile will display the date when you
last logged on to the site? Also by being active your profile will be listed
much higher in searches resulting in many more contacts? If members see you
as inactive this will Greatly Reduce the number of contacts you receive.

a refreshing experience to be almost hand guided through such an amazing concept
such as newfriends4u.com. Having extensivly travelled my way around many parts
of Australia for nearly a year now one of the main aspects of travelling is
the shear amount of people that you meet. From all walks of life and from all
corners of the globe. Hoefully given time your site will also see to it that
meeting people on that scale is matched. Its really nice to know that already
i know people from many parts of the world that i can go see when ever. I strongly
feel that with your concept these achievments i will be able to continue doing
when im back in England.
The general layout of the site is what designers would call aesthetically pleasing
and this i think is true with good colour schemes and excellent positive wording.
