hi leif, good to hear your veiws on goats. I have seven goats, three nanny goats, two that we get milk from, two adolecsent billy goats which will be for the pot at the end of the year and a new set of twins just born, dont know yet what sex they are. I make cheese and the milk we cant use goes to friends. we also have six chickens, and three are laying now. It is quite a lot of work but so good to know the we can be a little independant and eat helthier food. we killed a goat had goat curry for my husbands birthday in april, delicious! we had so much we had to give a lot away. I am determined to rise above the rat race now and become even more independant, any suggestions. |

Feel the pinch? You bet. I'm feeling it all over. It's high and low. It's everywhere and I don't think it's going to stop there. Imagine what comes next? You probably wouldn't want to go there and the best thing I can say is to hang on tight. I don't know if you can do this but buy yourself some chickens. They'll give you the eggs you'll ever need. If you can get a cow? buy one too. You'll get milk and if you'd prefer small livestocks? maybe you should think about a goat. I'm serious. They're the ones that kept us all going and maybe we should just take a step back from all the technological advances that keeps us from true reality or better yet to use them for a greater purpose that could ease yourselves from all those pains we're getting. If I could? I'd tell everyone to stop buying gas for awhile to the point where we're breaking the bank and controlling the outcome of price. However, I'm just the grin and bear it type, and there are all types out there. Have a nice day :-) |

Hi again Emma here
Sensible you Jan, living in Spain! Ive been learning Spanish although need to keep using it to pick up more/remember it. Am tempted to look for property in Spain...healthier, cheaper, more social than here...this Country is going to pot fast! Petrol aaghhh is ridiculous but cannot do without a car and obv cant not eat!
Im all for a bargain...nothing is cheap here now though.
:-) Hasta pronto! |

hi penny and emma, the prices you are quoting sound terrible, i live in spain but am originaly from glasgow, i've decided I probably can't afford to go back to britain. thank goodness I feel quite settled here. The price of food has gone up here but a lot of it is seasonal and some of the crops were bad because of too much rain. I grow apricots but they were a disaster this year, not good enough to take to market but I have tons of jam and chutney! keep looking for the bargains |

Yes me too...thats all we have been talking about at work the last week or so!! I got a 6 pint in Sainsburys (but think its similar anywhere) and it was £2.12 OWCH!!
Petrol is soooo bad too...Ive got a Citreon C3 and put £40 in it when empty...that lasts me around two weeks just travelling to Maldon and back every day to work...I dont use it much otherwise...bad isnt it...thing is our wages dont increase with the other price rises... :-/ |
