Hi There Roger...I can't imagine Christmas as being snowy. Personally I would love it...all the Christmas cards depict snow...but then don't we always want something we can't have. I know how it is with the kids all living close. Christmas was always a hassle not knowing who to spend the day with. Every year one of the 9 kids tell us its time we spent the day with them then the others would argue that 'no its our turn' blah blah.blah. So our solution was to not spend the day with any of them and we go away for a few days camping. We do concede a bbq just before Christmas for them all though, or those who can get here. It would take a massive effort to get all my family in the one place at the same time. The furthurest away one is only 200ks away but something always stops someone from getting here. Imagine though, with 27 grandkids and 8 great grandkids plus all the parent what a shamozzle it would all be. Thanks but no thanks.
To everyone else.....I hope all is going great with you all. Enjoy December...another year has almost bit the dust. And if I don't get in for the next 3 weeks please all do have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. I will be thinking of all my on-line friends while I am escaping to a little isolation up in the back country. xxx

Hello all, I should perhaps think myself lucky, all my family live in the same county, two thirds live in the same town as I, and they usualy tussle every Christmas as to who I spend it with, 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grand children, am I blessed? or what?
My Ozzie pen pal tells me they have been having storms, and snow on the Blue mountains late October I think it was.
My Canadian pen frien emailed to say she had a flury of snow last week.
I am getting concered about our weather here, %40. chance of snow Christmas, okay for the kids, but no one else.
Still, not to worry too much, I have a months worth of food stockpiled!
untill next time
take care all
Roger

Elizabeth...About that 80 yr old friends of yours who has no children. Over here, just a short while ago, we had a wonderful success story about a couple who immigrated to N.Z. Her children missed their grandmother so much she advertised for a 'Nana" for them. She had 3 replies and now, 10 yrs later this lady is a part of their growing family. The Nana takes them on day trips, had them for overnight stays and generally does all the things a Nana does. She was also there for the birth of there 3rd child. They said she has been the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to them. There are so many people in this world who would love the opportunity to do these things....xx

Hello Roger, Elizabeth and welcome Pat. I have a very dull 1st day of Summer here and a chance to catch up on mail. Elizabeth...you are sooooo good to have your Xmas shopping all done. I haven't even thought about mine yet. Although we go away camping for Xmas, the littlies that I look after all get small gifts and we do that usually about the previous Sunday. With the amount of g. kids I have we don't give to them all although I make up little pressies of assorted sweets just in case they call in at some stage. I'm lookingh forward to the New Year this year as we plan on going down to Caroline Bay for the midnight bonfire and fireworks display. Last year we seen it from the front door of our house but only the high ones as the roof of the hospital across the road got in the way...how dare they build a hospital right in front of us lol.
Pat..it is always nice to see a new member some and see us. We talk about anything and everything here. You have a problem we can help you solve it; you have something wonderful happen we will celebrate with you. Its an anything goes sort of thing. I began this thread soon after I joined the site cause I was so annoyed that there didnt seem to be many active 'older' people here but didnt really expect it would go so long. It is wonderful really.
Roger....come back. Once we get a hold of you there is no escape lol....I wish. We seem to have lost a few along the way somewhere.
My biggest news right now is the illness of my 19 mth old grandson who is under going test for goodness knows what. Paediatrician is stumped right now as the poor wee lad continues to throw up every day. My daughter finally got told to take him to the hospital where is is undergoing blood tests and x-rays. This Wednesday she is off to Christchurch with him for a full C.T. scan. There is some discussion going on as to whether or not my husbands degenerating brain disease is heriditary so they are checking that out now. Such a lot for a little boy to cope with but he seems happy enough.
Pat I am so busy right now with mail I don't know if I will ever get a chance to reply to your message right away but I will get to it eventually. In the meantime there is this. Tell us about your life. I'm sorry to hear your husband and you are growing apart a little. You know when the kids leave home and we have time for ourselves it is hard to cope.... we have all had youngsters around us for so long and all of a sudden we are thrown into an adult world. It seems to happen so fast. My computer is a big help to me there. I escape into cyber space and just float about for a while talking to other people in similar situations. Sometimes it seems to be the only way to stay remotely sane. I am a country girl who has been forced to move to the city and I am surely not a city person so I seldom leave my house. Even shopping really doesnt hold my interest....now how often does a woman say that. I have made some lovely friends all over the world via forums nd chat sites and speak live to many of them via my messenger service. Best thing about that to is that it is FREE. Not many things in this world are free today.
Well, my friends, I am off to do some more poking about and answer a few more letters. Maybe if it becomes nice out I may even get a chance to go outdoors and do some work in my jungle. Bye to you all. Have a wonderful week and will catch up next time.....Faye xx

Hello Pat. Welcome to the site. Roughly how it works is that you write your 'bit' and then the other members get an email to say there's a new message and they reply to you. I'm not the best at replying straight away, I must admit. I think you'll find that Faye is the most faithful of the members at present.
I would suggest that you just say a little about yourself in the first place. Good luck, Elizabeth

Hello Faye. Back again, late as usual. I had tons to do and now it's all done I'm allowing myself the pleasure of a little "me" time. Thanks for telling me about yourself, Nine children sounds like real hard work, but rewarding as well. I have a childless friend who's 80 years old and newly widowed and what she wouldn't give to have children or grandchildren calling round. I sometimes curse mine but I wouldn't be without them for the world!
So your summer is starting now. Lucky you. We had freezing fog yesterday and today has been bitterly cold as well, though sunny.
Are you ready for Christmas? I have just finished wrapping the last of the presents and written all the cards. I don't have to worry about the food bit as I'm going to spend Christmas with my daughter, and New Year in Blackpool with friends.
Hello Roger,
Nice to 'meet' you. Hope you stay with us for a while because as Faye says, we seem to lose people as quickly as they appear.
Hope to hear from you all soon,
Love, Elizabeth x

Hey Roger I cant see how the UK ladies can be put off by your age. I belong to an over 50's chat and dating site and some of the ones on there are really into the whole thing in a big way. Ive been on there a year now and dont think there have been any match ups yet but it isnt for lack of trying with some. Perhaps the fact that its a clean site might make a difference although they do have private chat available for anything a bit more risque. And of course as with any chat site we are always on the lookout for scammers and wierdos and our admin gets rid of them pretty fast. Ive not heard the term 'iceback' when referring to Canadians. I guess it comes from the eskimo population lol. And of course Aussie is just over 'the ditch' from us here in NZ. We have a love/hate relationship going with the aussies. We used to be able to read previous messages on here when replying but the powers that be decided to put the latest posts first because we had to wade through pages of stuff to get to the latest message. I copy and past mine to word pad while I reply then just delete it all. Much less hassle. Catch up next time. Bye.

hello faye, shame I cannot read the replys and type my onw at the same time, as I can with my emails, incoming on the left, my reply on the right, has anyone sugexted that to the powers that be?
I can only think that UK ladies are put of by my age, I would have thought cycling everywhere, doing my own cooking etc, would infer that I am fit and healthy? and I dont need to ask anyone where I live when I am on my way back from Tesco's with a rucksack full of the weeks shopping?
Still, never mind, I have an Ozzie and and an 'iceback' to email too, and possibly live webcam chat soon. [iceback is yankspeak for Canadian].
What a crappy looking day out there.
regards to you all.

Hello Roger and welcome to our thread. Yes this is a dating & friendship site and what you do here is find someone you would like to perhaps write to or meet and you can send them a message. It is just initial contact..once you get to know each other and are comfortable you may like to swap personal email address. These threads help there as well plus it is also for friendship. We were very active for a while there but I think we have fallen by the wayside a little. I'm the ever faithful who just keeps coming back from time to time.I began this when I got pissed off cause there didn't seem to be many over 50 people here and all the young ones wanted to do was flirt and talk grubby...not my scene at all. Boy I was quite surprised at that time that there were others who felt the same. I enjoy a bit of controversy and it seemed to work for a while.Oh well, maybe it will take off again with Winter in your part of the world. Can only wait and see.

Hello all, this is a puzzle to me, I have been on dating sites some time now, the ladies who contact me are English speaking, but live abroad, like Australia and Canada, and the russian maffia ladies, out for money.
